Another Little Confession
Happy Easter
Confessions :)
I had to buy a little bit of yarn at the Fiber Event. I went mainly to see what Briar Rose Fibers had for sale. I brought home some Sea Pearl and some Celebration.
Yes, I already wound this. I’m planning some cute little sweater for Caitlynn out of this.
This will be a sweater for me. It’s mine I tell you, all mine! BWAHAHAHAHAHA!

Liblikakiri Shawl
Finally, Liblikakiri emerges from it’s cocoon. Breaking free of the constraints of pattern testing and re-writing, it is finally flying free. 😉
My goal with this little bit of lace was to use one skein of Malabrigo Lace Yarn, making this a very affordable knit. My stitch patterns are based on two Estonian Lace Stitches, a version of Liblikakiri (butterfly) and a half-drop leaf stitch. Neither one is quite the same as the original, but both are instantly recognizable.
This shawl is knit from the top down, employs nupps on the wrong side, and is easily adjustable. The first and second charts contain the same number of stitches in the repeat, allowing the knitter to increase or decrease the size of the shawl as the yarn allows.
This pattern is meant for a more experienced mid-level knitter as the chart involves nupps and patterning on both sides. Two different methods and several links for working nupps are included.
Yarn: Malabrigo Lace, Pagoda, 100% Baby Merino Wool, 470 yards
Gauge: 6.5 spi and 8 rpi in stockinette
Needle: US 4 Circular
Sizes available: 54 inches by 25 inches
The Fiber Event 2011 Recap
My roomie and another friend traveled to the Fiber Event with me. We went early on Friday and stayed for only a few hours. It was fun. I bought just a little yarn, but we’ll save that for another post.
Sharon was demonstrating how to clip the coat on an Angora.
I like these squirrel cage swifts.
My friend, and fellow blogger. 🙂
More to come soon.
