Where Are the Noms?

You would think these guys wanted something, huh?

Loving the daffodils

How pretty are these beautiful daffodils?  I love the double ones.  I’m so glad I picked up some bulbs at the Indiana Daffodil Society’s sale at the Indiana State Fair.

I’m working up a new design and I really like the way it’s coming together.  I’m using three colors of Studio Donegal tweed, two Aran and one Soft to make it.  I can’t wait to show it to you once it’s finished.

This is kind of self explanatory.  I’m making mitts for the National Dutch Show.  I’m planning to donate them to the club to help make money for the awards for the National Convention this fall.  I’ve really enjoyed putting together yet another pair of mitts.  I might have to explore more colorwork in my knitting patterns.

And something that we haven’t seen for a while. Tatting! I’m making an edging for this hanky which I will then turn into a bonnet for the niece’s christening.  I’ve been quite enjoying have a “reason” to tat.  It seems that I really need some kind of motivation to get out my shuttles whether that is learning a new technique or creating something for a special occasion. Otherwise my poor shuttles and threads sit unused in a box.

Favorite Tastes

I had the opportunity to eat at Dog n Suds while I was in Lafayette, IN.  Except for the construction making it difficult to enter (and exit), it was everything I remembered.  I love my breaded tenderloin with coleslaw and a big mug of root beer.  I savored every bite and look forward to going back again soon.

Then I had a lovely brisket sandwich a few days later at Sugarfire.  I really do love Sugarfire.  I’ve talked about them before, but I still haven’t had a bad meal here.  Some of them I have loved more than others, but I haven’t disliked any of my meals.  And did I mention the red cream soda?  Oh.  I do love that red cream soda.

What is funny about his post is that I’ve mentioned the two places where I indulge in pop.  I don’t drink much any more, but these are the two places that I have a pop with my food and not water or tea.  🙂

Orchid Display

The Botanical Gardens here in St. Louis are really magical.  There are so many examples of gardens and the rotating educational displays are really neat.  I love that there is an annual orchid show.  The different species were beautiful and I loved seeing the colors.  I really hoped that there would be more colors, there seemed to be many whites, but in any case I loved the display.

It was also nice enough to take a walk up to the Japanese garden and check out the koi.  I’m amazed at how large the koi are in the Japanese garden. They must be at least 50 years old.  Any guesses as to how old those big ones are?

More WIPs

I’m always designing something new.  That is a fact of my life at the moment.  These two little patterns are well on their way to becoming full fledged finished patterns at the moment.  I really wanted to share a bit of the process with you though and take a quick photo.  I love the way the pattern swirls over the leg on this sock.  Plus, it’s so much fun to start a top-down sweater.  Well.  A cardigan to be sure.  I like cardigans so much better than a pullover.  I suppose at some point I will have to design a pullover, but at this point it is shrugs and cardigans on my list. 🙂

What do you think?  Are you a pullover kind of person or do you prefer cardigans and shrugs?

New Hair!

I told Susie to just “cut my hair” and I think she did a fine job!  I love my new cut and color.  It makes me so much lighter.  Happier even.  I was so happy to have my hair all joyful and freshly cut before Yarn Crawl.

I think I might just have to have Susie refresh my hair again soon.
