Finished the Throw Wedding Garter

This lovely thing was shuttle tatted with size 80 DMC thread in white and the multicolor blue. I used this pattern for the edging.

After I finished the edging, I attached the edging to the ribbon.  I thought this would be a better strategy than attaching it after I had sewn the full garter, but in retrospect, it would have been better to attach the edging after.  I know this for next time!

Here it is, all sewn up and lovely looking.  There are things I would change, like being more careful in the sewing of the ribbons, and turning down the ends after I had sewn the sides instead of trying to sew them in at the same time.

All in all, I still like how it turned out and I’m tempted to offer handmade garters in the Etsy shop.  First I need a little more practice though.

  1. If that was your first attempt, I’d love to see what you could do after a little practice. Because this one us beautiful. I think these would be a great item for Etsy.

  4. I just saw this out at the county fair, and it looked even more lovely and delicate in person. You did a really nice job with this!
