The Proposal (Avi Style)

When I went to visit Avi in Oregon last weekend, we had not made any plans.  After looking at several different places to go, Avi told me he wanted to drive along the Columbia River Gorge.  It was beautiful; the trees and mountains, sheer cliffs, ponds, waterfalls, and lush vegetation.  We stopped in Hood River for lunch before crossing into Washington via the Button Bridge.  From there we wandered along the river road stopping when we found pretty places.  At one of the rest stops the view was incredible.

The cliff was very tall, but afforded great views.  I stayed well back from the edge as I gazed into Oregon from the Washington side.
Avi waiting to propose

Avi, of course, had to go right to the edge.  He finally convinced me to pick my way down to him, which is when he dropped to one knee and proposed.  Yes, he did catch me off-guard.  No, I wasn’t really expecting a proposal, hoping maybe, but not expecting.  I said yes with little hesitation, as soon as my brain caught up to the question.  There was an awkward moment when I was actually speechless.

We did take one picture where we were both smiling after we crossed back into Oregon. 🙂
