With a flash and a flourish, completely unlike my staid Sock Hunter attitude, I leapt after my quarry. There, bouncing among the branches, skittering across the ground, fleeing with every last inch of their stitching: SOCKS!
I huffed my way after them. Proper camera equipment is heavy. Why can’t I downsize my cameras? Shins banged by camera bag. Hair scattering wildly from pony tail. Dratted socks escaping from my grasp.
Slow. Slow. I’ve lost them. Lost the socks. I know they were here a moment ago. Under that bush? Maybe. Drop to the ground. Shimmy forward, camera bag banging into back. Must invest in better camera bag. There? No. There? No.
Where are those socks? I will find them. They must be close. I slow my breathing. Calmly, calmly, look for socks. A bit of toe perhaps? Just there? Yes, that little bit of blue. Gone! Gone again. In pursuit. Camera bag slapping against my back.
I need new shoes. Something with cushion. Whoa! *Comfort Socks! In the open! Quick, camera in position, knee hitting the ground, focus, focus. Snap!
