There is a simultaneous joy and despair to sock hunting. While there is the elation of capturing a sock on film, there is also the desperate knowledge that this sock hunt is over. You have one less sock on your list to hunt with each capture. At times the sock list seems endless, but when the night creeps into the corners of your bedroom and the wind starts to whisper of fall, the sock list starts to seem very small indeed.
The *Scarlet Socks were at the top of my “to shoot” list and I had been stalking them for some time. Gusts of wind were sweeping through my hiding spot again and I feared that the socks would never appear. Even my offerings of quiviut and cashmere fluff were being left for other socks to find. It was with some relief that the socks finally made an appearance after three weeks. I quickly snapped several shots before they could dart away.
With trepidation at the shortening of my sock list, I find myself starting to contemplate the search for socks abroad again. Until next time, this is your Sock Hunter, signing off.
