Portland Day 3: The Beach

After wandering around Tillamook, OR a bit, we found ourselves on the way to the Cape Meares Lighthouse. According to the guidebook, Cape Meares is the shortest lighthouse on the Oregon coast. In any event, the lighthouse sits in a lovely national park and I took entirely too many pictures. A few(ahem) of my favorites follow:

We even found our way down to a little public beach in Oceanside.

Avi was engrossed by the jellyfish remains that washed up on the beach. The most entertaining moment of the day was when he exclaimed “it’s like jelly!” Yes, honey, it’s like jelly. Now stop trying to poke it.

We had a nice day, walked quite a bit, drove quite a bit, and even managed a picture or two.

  1. I’m loving your tour of Portland and the coast! I live in Oregon in the coastal mountains and I can’t think of a better place in the world. So glad to see that you’re enjoying Portland and the beach. Isn’t Powell’s a great bookstore?

  2. Two years ago, DH and I drove to San Francisco for a conference, via the Oregon coast. When we got to the point where we could really see the coast (and the haystack rocks), it was typical Oregon August weather……….FOGGY! Didn’t see a damn thing! Now I know what I should have seen!

  3. Beautiful pics! Thank you for sharing your trip with us. Last year my hubby and I eloped in Oregon and your pictures took me back to that beautiful place… thank you! 🙂
