Baby Stuff

Well, we all know that I have a lot of pregnant friends right now. So, after the marathon knitting for State Fair, I thought it was time to work on some baby items. I cast on for some Fleeglized Saartje’s Bootees yesterday and had whipped out both bootees by noon today. The [...]

It has been a particularly even tempered summer. Mostly cool or pleasant, with very few unbearably hot days. The socks have been on the move constantly, making it difficult to capture them.
I have tracked socks hither and yon, under the trees, ’round the bushes, up the hills and down the dales.  I have [...]

The Carnage!

It was . . .
it was horrible.
They were so innocent, just frolicking in the grass.  The beast nabbed them with little thought, rending them limb from limb.  I could scarce believe the image before my eyes.
Behold, the carnage:

First she viewed the bloody scene, then she selected a delicate bit to nibble on.

Oh! Oh no! She’s [...]

A Little Tatting On the Side

I like to tat occasionally. Usually I stick to small motifs: butterflies, butterflies, and more butterflies. I decided to branch out this time and make an edging for a “blank” handkerchief.

The edging comes from the Spring issue of Piecework. It’s actually a vintage pattern from a Weldon’s book, so I had to “re-chart” [...]

My erstwhile boss is changing jobs.  He’ll be the department head of a college in South Dakota this fall and I thought he might need a little something to keep his noggin warm.  He is, after all, a bald man moving to a very chilly northern state.

So, after getting most of my State Fair projects [...]

Totally Autumn

It’s a blankie just for me.  The pattern is Totally Autumn by Anne Hanson and was published in Knitty about two years ago.  The yarn is Harrisville Designs New England Highland in Garnet.  I bought two cones from Webs and used every last bit of it.  Actually, I had to cut out 4 rows from [...]

Spindle Full?

Well. I spun until my spindle was full. At least, as full as I could make it. With some effort, I am sure I could have packed more on it, but it was getting difficult to spin. The spindle wasn’t wobbling heavily, but I was having trouble winding on the yarn.

So, [...]

Heads Up

Contest at JessaLu’s, if you haven’t already heard.
Contest at Rosemary’s (Romi’s), if you haven’t already heard.
I love trying to take pictures with little Miss S. O. Licking around.  She likes to rub my legs, push her little chin over my toes, lick my heels.  Then she goes after the camera, because it’s in my hands [...]
