This time, I want your thoughts on good yarns that wash well. I’ve been thinking of making some short fingered gloves for working in the barn. I need a machine washable yarn that will hold up well to wear and tear, go through the washer and dryer with minimal fuss, and come out still looking decent. I’m open to non-wool yarns, superwash yarns, or blends. So . . .
“Hit me with your best shot.”
Sorry. It popped into my head. ![]()

Of course there is my line.
Umm Lorna’s Laces, or something with a bamboo blend to keep the pilling down. I haven’t got to use it yet, but the Tofutsies might work well for you. If I think of any more I will let you know, mu brain just isn’t working at the moment.
Wool Ease. Washes very well. Or Lion Brand magic stripes. My first socks are out of this, and they look great after much washing.
Oooh, what Dana said. Also, I believe Patons makes a superwash. I have it around here somewhere…
cascade 220 superwash
My first two thoughts have already been listed here: Wool Ease and Cascade 220 superwash. Both are really warm, and I know the Cascade superwash won’t shrink or felt.
Cascade 220 Superwash. The best!
Ok, here’s my true white trash/cheapass colors showing thru: TLC Cotton Plus. It’s not a “painful” cotton either. (You wouldn’t know it was cotton if you didn’t read the label!)
I’ve made two sweaters out of them and lemme tell you how I do laundry:
Shove all clothes into washer.
Set washer on Hot or Cold, or whatever my whimsy is of the week.
Pull clothes out.
Put in dryer on HIGH for forty minutes.
My cotton plus sweaters look great after that abuse!
I’d go with the 220 superwash, or the Lion Brand Sock. My woolease experience was pillicious! Bleah…
