. . . but, you and I know how much time and effort went into those little packages. I grouped them by family so that I could just hand over a bag instead of digging for the little individual presents. There are four pairs of mitts, two pairs of mittens, one pair of socks, one pair of slippers, one mini scarf, and a ribbed hat in a pear tree under my tree. (The rolled up green fabric is a washcloth from my roommate. I’m waiting to open the soap that goes with it.)
I spent most of today baking and cooking and generally making a mess of the kitchen that I cleaned yesterday. (Note to self: next year clean kitchen after the baking mass hysteria ensues. ) Sometimes I just get the itch to cook and bake and eat to my heart’s content. It may be that the last part is what really gets me going.
I decided to try a recipe from a blog that I found through Carol’s, the Pioneer Woman Cooks! Her sweet potato casserole looked infinitely yummy and seriously easy to make, plus anything that uses butter has got to be tasty. My hips may not thank me, but my tummy does, Yum! (You may notice in the picture that I there is a little bit missing. Well, I had to try it to make sure it tasted good for tomorrow, right?)
I’m headed to my parents and I’ll be bringing this lovely dish along to heat up. I’m also making cinnamon rolls tonight, but there’s little chance that you’ll get a picture of those. I use Alton Brown’s recipe for overnight cinnamon rolls, but I’m going to bake mine through and just heat them up and pour the topping on when I get to my parents in the morning.
I hope your Christmas, Festivus, Winter Soltice-ess celebrations are happy. Travel safe. Oh, and yarn pr0n pictures to come soon. ![]()

Doesn’t Pioneer Woman have the best recipes? I made her lasagna and it’s wonderful and so is Marlboro Man’s favorite sandwich. Have a wonderful Christmas!
Oh yum! I love the bite out of the corner. In my house you test whatever you’re making to make sure it’s not “poison” ha ha!
Merry Christmas!
Merry X-mas!!
Yummm it looks good. Hope you had a lovely Christmas.
hope you had a good day
Sweet Potato Casserole. . . My absolute Christmas favorite!!
Hope you had a great Christmas!
Your tree looks great! I always mean to do a “theme tree”, but never get around to it. I think I would be disappointed that the ornaments we’ve collected over the years, wouldn’t get seen. Youngest did our tree this year. The big bros say he may be in charge from now on! He did a really good job.
That looks pretty impressive to me - there’s a lot of work involved in that pile of presents. Congrats on getting it all finished!
I *heart* the Pioneer Woman - beautiful pictures and BUTTER! What more can a girl ask for? hehehe
Hope you had a Merry Christmas!
