because I made another pair last night! This pair, I just whipped up out of some Alpaca With A Twist Landscapes (two skeins in Fire Island) that I had in my stash. Some size 8 DPNs and 3 hours later, voila! One finished pair of ribbed mitts. Seriously satisfying to whip out a quick FO and I’ve been wearing them all morning. :)
Here’s the basic pattern: CO 32 stitches (7 inch palm) and knit in K2P2 for 4 inches. Next round continuing in pattern, place marker at end of row, M1. Next round continue in pattern, slip marker, K1. Continue with pattern and increase gusset stitches by M1 on either side of previous knit stitches every other round. (So, round one you had 1 stitch, round two you had one stitch, round three you’ll have 3 stitches, round four you’ll have 4 stitches.) Continue knitting ribbing and increasing gusset stitches every other round until you have 17 stitches. Slip these 17 stitches to a holder, knit 6 more rounds (or an inch or more if you like) on the ribbing stitches, bind off. Pick up thumb stitches, knit one round, knitting two together over the gap (which leaves 16 stitches), then knit 3 rounds of K2P2, and bind off. Weave in ends and smile happily at your quick FO.
Now me, I like my increases to match so when increasing for my thumb gussetts I used a M1R and a M1L. I’m a little anal like that, you could increase any old way you want to. :) Of course, mitts are great to clean up 120 yards of yarn or about 68-70 grams. Using the AWAT Landscapes is a lovely luxury for me, alpaca! silk! wrapped around my very warm and happy wrists. (Le sigh)

Nice work! Love the color…like cranberries.
