Sock Hunter Episode 4: Ground Socks
May 11, 2007 by knitterbunny
While stalking the Little Shell Rib Socks at the corner of a quiet pool, I happened upon a very interesting sight; a pair of Ground Walking *Henpecked Yarn Over Cables socks! While the pair were obviously attempting to hide amongst the lower branches of this bush, it was apparent that they were unaware of my presence. Of course I took advantage of the situation and calmly crawled toward them, keeping my camera trained on the socks and praying they wouldn’t escape.
Having successfully approached the pair, I snapped a quick picture fearing that the shutter snapping would send this pair into a startled run.
Luckily the pair were more interested in the black sock stalking cat that had appeared to my right. Once again the socks attempted to blend into the background. Taking further advantage of their preoccupation I snapped a close-up of the male sock. Though blurry, I feel confident that the detailing can still be seen for catalogueing.
This is your Sock Hunter sigining off until next I sight the shy but intriguing Little Shell Rib socks.
*Socks That Rock in Henpecked (mediumweight), pattern from Sensational Knitted Socks by Charlene Schurch, knit on US 1 birch DPNs, total pattern crazy modified by me and I can’t even list all of the elements that I included to change this sock from my basic ![]()

The socks are beautiful!!!
You’re a nut! Um, is the other sock a female? What happens if you’re wearing them and you fall asleep? Do you end up with little socklets in your sock drawer so many months later?
Very pretty! But how do you tell the male from the female? Never mind! I don’t think I really want you to answer that!
